Abstract

In this era of increasingly sophisticated technology, social media is growing rapidly and has a very important role in helping spread Islamic teachings. Currently preachers can convey their da'wah messages through social media, using good rhetoric so they can attract attention and what is conveyed can be understood by mad'u. The da'i rhetoric itself needs to be reconsidered by the preachers, starting from the style of language, tone of voice, gestures and appearance. Because this is to be able to understand the situation and condition of the mad'u. There are not a few preachers who often convey their da'wah material to fellow Muslims, but it is different from Habib Husain Ja'far who preaches or discusses with fellow Muslims and non-Muslims. However, the focus of this research is the rhetoric of Habib Husain Ja'far's preaching to non-Muslims via Youtube This study aims to answer How is the rhetoric of Habib Husein Ja'far preaching to non-Muslims through YouTube? How is the application of ethos, pathos, logos in the preaching of Habib Husein Ja'far through YouTube? This type of research is descriptive qualitative, the data used is in the form of video and obtained from the results of observation and documentation. Then after the data collected was analyzed to answer research questions and describe in full This study shows that the rhetoric of Habib Husein Ja'far's da'wah uses language style based on word choice, namely informal and conversational language. The style of language is based on tone, namely simple style, noble, powerful, and medium style. This aspect is very supportive because, using everyday language, it is relaxed and not aggressive. From the aspect of tone style, using intonation and tempo of speech, choosing a variety of words and being able to dramatize the situation. The sound style used by Habib Husein Ja'far applies the pitch of the sound such as rate and rhythm, and uses pauses. In the aspect of speech, Habib Husein Ja'far uses eyes that focus on mad'u, hand movements, facial expressions, and often raises eyebrows. Body movements and posture, Habib Husein Ja'far sits straight but relaxed, usually leaning back in a chair, facing mad'u and occasionally looking at the camera, the clothes worn are quite relaxed, such as shirts, jeans jackets, blazers, t-shirts , and sometimes wear skullcaps. The application of ethos, pathos, logos is applied by Habib Husein Ja'far, his ethos, non-formal and formal education is quite high, as well as qualified abilities. Able to dramatize, touch and evoke mad'u, the pathos pathos that is applied usually inserts humor into his preaching so that it is not boring. The da'wah messages conveyed are very logical and mad'u are able to accept them, so the application of logos is highly practiced, usually giving examples, reinforced by the arguments of the Qur'an and Hadith
