Abstract

The Correctional Institution is one of the law enforcement institutions which is the estuary of criminal justice. The implementation of prison sentences against prisoners is not only done solely because of efforts to deter prisoners but also to keep them away from society. This study aims to determine the implementation of religious guidance to improve self-regulation in prisoners of class II B Sleman correctional institutions. This research is qualitative with a descriptive type of research which examines a scientific object which uses key instruments. The population amounted to 200 prisoners who were Muslim, 1 mosque coach and 1 religious instructor from outside the correctional institution. The type of sample used is purposive sampling where the researcher has certain considerations in determining the sample. So the sample used is 1 mosque coach, 1 religious instructor and 4 prisoners. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses Miles and Huberman's theory of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data validity test was carried out by triangulating sources. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of religious guidance to improve the regulation of prisoners includes reading and writing the Koran, recitation, dhuhur prayer in congregation, Islamic competitions and qosidah diba'. The material provided is material about faith, akhlaq material and worship material. The methods used are interview methods, group methods. As for the holding of religious guidance activities, this makes the prisoners able to manage emotions and can determine the attitude when going to act and have good manners to fellow prisoners and to correctional institution employees.
