Abstract

Social media is an important part of human communication and interaction, but unfortunately not everyone can utilize social media properly. One of the uses of social media that is quite viral is the case of the upload of Dr. Kevin Samuel Marpaung who made a video containing a scene of a doctor demonstrating vaginal touche, from this case it shows that the understanding of social media ethics for health workers is still not in accordance with ethics. The purpose of this study is to find out the reasons for IDI to make rules of social media communication ethics and also what points are the code of ethics for social media for a doctor and the response of IDI members regarding the existence of this social media code of ethics. This research uses the method of analyzing Islamic communication ethics and also uses the concept of Stimulus-Response Theory initiated by Ivan P. Pavlov. Meanwhile, in its approach, this research uses qualitative methods by conducting open interviews with IDI administrators and members. The data collection techniques used in this research are interviews, observation and documentation, and the data analysis techniques use descriptive. The results of this study are first, the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) makes this social media communication ethics has an urgency to keep up with the development of medical science, besides that doctors' social media should educate the public more widely and make it easier for people to access health information, Second, the IDI through the Medical Ethics Honor Council (MKEK) has officially made Decree Number 029/PB/K/MKEK/04/2021 dated April 30, 2021 which contains 13 points of fatwa on doctor communication ethics in social media activities. Third, doctors who are also members of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) have supported and implemented this social media code of ethics, but unfortunately there are still unscrupulous doctors who upload content without seeing the impact of the uploaded content, the most important point regarding the ethics of doctors in using social media is that doctors must maintain their integrity and professionalism in using social media accounts according to the rules of the medical code of ethics in social media.
