Abstract

The purpose of this study was carried out because society still considers that sex education is a taboo thing to convey to children. In fact, sex education is important to provide understanding to children about self-identity, biological experiences, self-preservation and so on. This research uses a linguistic approach with descriptive qualitative research methods. The primary source of data is the book Tarbiyatul Aulâd fil Islâm by Abdullah Nashih Ulwan and its translation. Meanwhile, secondary sources are books, scientific articles and news that support research. Data collection techniques include listening methods and literature studies. Then, technical data analysis uses critical discourse analysis Teun A. Van Dijk. There are 3 things criticized by researchers, namely (1) the understanding of sex education, age division and sex education materials need to be adjusted to the times (2) the concept of sex education Ulwan is incomplete because it does not explain the success/evaluation indicators (3) delivering sex education using a gender fair perspective, not discriminating against men or women. The results showed that (1) The concept of sex education consists of (a) The understanding and purpose of sex education is to provide clear teaching, understanding and information to children according to their age development to recognize self-identity, maintain reproductive health, take care of themselves and understand the shari'i law on sex in Islam (b) Sex education materials include self-identity, instilling shame, separating children's beds, ethics of asking permission, ethics of viewing, reproductive health, introducing mahram, teaching shari'i law on sex education, keeping children away from lust, etiquette of decoration and education of self-preservation (c) Sex education strategy is to convey material clearly, according to the child's age development and choose effective methods (d) Sex education media are story books, songs, fairy tale dolls (e) Use appropriate methods such as educating by example, educating by habit, educating with advice, educating with attention / supervision and educating with punishment. (2) Preventive efforts in providing sex education to children (a) Using easy and appropriate terms (b) Taking the initiative (c) Providing explanations according to children's needs (d) Early sex education (e) Being a good listener (f) Teaching sex education that is not gender biased.
