Abstract

The phenomenon of a decline in the character of a person or group of people that occurs in this nation affects various lines of society, one of which often occurs in the youth sector. In addition, gender inequality, the environment and various other global issues are very important to pay attention to. Therefore, students as agents of change have an important role in various global problems and issues that occur in their environment. The School of Islamic Thought (SPI) organized by the Center for Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Indonesia (PSI UII) comes with the aim of exploring Islamic values to answer these global problems and to encourage students to care about these issues and grow a sense of concern for social. This research was conducted to find out how the process of internalizing human values in increasing student social awareness through SPI and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors as well as to find out what the implications are for student social care. This type of research is qualitative research with data collection methods used in this study, namely observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained during the research were analyzed by means of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. While testing the validity of the data is by triangulation of sources. The results of the study show that SPI is carried out through three parts, namely pre-activities in the form of preparations carried out by PSI UII and the team, resource persons and participants. The process of activities is through several classes with human values that are internalized through several classes namely Islam and Gender Class, Prophetic Leadership, Al-Quran and Humanity, Sufism and Millennial Society, Islam and Human Rights, Classical Islamic Philosophy, Islam and the Environment, and Terrorism, Islamic Radicalism and Moderation, with its internalization stages, namely the value transformation stage, the value transaction stage and the trans-internalization stage. The implication is in the form of internalized values, namely human values which consist of five pillars, namely truth, virtue, peace, compassion and non-violence. In addition, in the form of universal values recognized by civilized nations, absolute values, namely values believed to be true that originate from religious beliefs, or objective values, namely values that are believed by groups on the basis of sensory (empirical) evidence. This shows that the relationship or individual attitude towards the environment is in the form of an individual accepting the environment.
