Abstract

The background of this research problem is the use of Android embedded in smartphones reaching students. It is an obligation for teachers to develop learning media, especially those based on technology, so as to create a pleasant learning atmosphere. The development of Android-based interactive learning media has often been done before, to show the characteristics of the media being developed, the name Sibando is used which stands for Indonesian language application. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of developing Sibando interactive learning media, to determine the validity of Sibando's interactive learning media and to determine the effectiveness of Sibando's interactive learning media to increase interest in learning and understanding of fictional text material in fifth grade elementary school students. This research is Research and Development (R&D), namely the development of Sibando interactive learning media for fifth grade elementary school students. The R&D model used is ADDIE. The ADDIE model has 5 stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. Data analysis in this study used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The subjects of the product trial were 25 fifth grade students at state elementary school 25 Langki, Sijunjung Regency. The results of the development are Sibando interactive learning media on fiction text material. The results of the expert validation showed that Sibando's interactive learning media obtained valid criteria with a score of 91.66% from media experts and 87.5% from material experts. The test results show that there is an increase between before and after the use of Sibando interactive learning media. In terms of interest in learning, there was an increase in the average score from 74.6 to 83.88. In terms of understanding the material, there was an increase in the average score from 65.86 to 83.73. So that it can be concluded that the Sibando interactive learning media developed is suitable for use and effective for application to fifth grade elementary school students.
