Abstract

Today, the level of trust in the police has decreased as a result of several cases that have gone viral on social media. This study aims to find out what strategies are used by the South Sumatra Regional Police Public Relations in building a positive image. The research method uses descriptive qualitative. Primary data sources were obtained through interviews, observation and documentation from the South Sumatra Police Public Relations Division. The results of this study is that the PR strategy carried out by the South Sumatra Regional Police Public Relations to build a positive image is as follows, 1) Fact Finding, conducting research first about a fact that is currently being discussed. 2) Planning to respond or anticipate a fact or problem. 3) communicating, carrying out all programs that have been planned through existing facilities and media. both social media and print media. 4) evaluating performance. This strategy has proven to be able to build a positive image of the institution from the public's point of view. It's just that the community has not felt the actualization of the Panning stage. That is because planning is a stage that tends to be internal to the institution.
