Abstract

This study aims to find how quality communication in building intimacy with children in working mothers in Muslim families. Busy working mothers have an impact on the lack of time for family, especially children. For this reason, working mothers need to build quality communication with their children to build intimacy between mothers and child. The formulation of the problem was how to communicate quality in building intimacy with children in working mothers in Muslim families. The research subjects were five Ustadzah at Madrasah Mu'allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta who reflected working mothers in Muslim families. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative method and used data collection methods in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results found that quality communication in building intimacy with children was done by working mothers in the form of openness, honesty, trust, empathy, and listening. Openness in intimacy has done by having open communication with children, honesty in intimacy has done by making honest communication with children, trust in intimacy has done by placing trust in the child, empathy in intimacy has done by communicating empathetically with children, and listening in intimacy has done by listening to the child till the end without pausing the child's conversation.
