Abstract

Mango manalagi (Mangifera indica L.) is one of the plants whose seeds have active compounds such as flavonoids, triterpenoids, saponins, and tannins that have antibacterial potential, thus inhibiting or killing bacteria. The aim of this study was to analyze the antibacterial activity of mango seed extract manalagi (Mangifera indica L.) against the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and analyze the antibacterial activity of the liquid soap liquid soap extract manalagi (Mangifera indica L.) against the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Mango seed extract is made harmoniously with 96% ethanol solvent. Antibacterial activity tests were carried out on mango seed extract and on mango seed extract that had been formulated into liquid soap preparations by the well diffusion method. Evaluation of the preparation includes organoleptic test, pH test, foam height test, and foam stability test. The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that mango seed extract at concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30% had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with the highest inhibition diameter (DDH) produced by a 20% extract of 7.06 mm with a moderate category. While the DDH value of 10% concentration is 5.62 with medium category and 30% concentration of 5.05 with medium category. Based on the results of Minitab data analysis, it showed no significant difference in concentration variation (p>0.05). Meanwhile, the liquid soap preparation of mango seed extract shows the result that it has antibacterial activity with an inhibitory power diameter (DDH) obtained is 2.85 mm with a weak category. The results of the evaluation of soap preparations meet SNI standards.
