Abstract

On the island of Lombok a kiyai is known as Tuan Guru. The title is given by the public to someone who has studied in the Middle East and of course has an understanding of Islam. Coming back from his education in Mecca, TGH. Ismail Thohir came to East Lombok, precisely in the Lendang Nangka sub-district. At that time, there were still many people who adhered to animism (believing that every object on earth has a soul that must be respected so that these spirits do not disturb humans). This thesis discusses how TGH's communication pattern. Ismail Thohir To The People of East Lombok. This research is a qualitative type in a descriptive approach. The sources of this research were obtained from interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study explain first, the problems of da'wah faced by TGH. Ismail Thohir in East Lombok is very diverse, starting from the problem of plurality of public understanding, heretical sects, propaganda to prevent corruption, pornography which is increasingly troubling. However, through his preaching TGH. Ismail Thohir was able to overcome these problems. Second, TGH's da'wah communication patterns. Ismail Thohir in East Lombok, can be grouped into four aspects, namely: fardiyah preaching (interpersonal), fi'ah preaching (groups), jam'iyah preaching (mass) and cultural preaching. Third, the influence of TGH's da'wah communication patterns. Ismail Thohir in East Lombok has 3 aspects, namely: influence on small groups, influence on large groups, and influence on strengthening guidance and counseling. Other influences, the community understands and believes, strengthens Islamic boarding schools, strengthens the spirit of nationalism (nationalism), and prevents political temptations.
