Abstract

MAN 1 Yogyakarta students are entering adolescence. Adolescence is a golden time in individual growth and development. Starting from the cognitive, emotional, and physical aspects, everything is in a very potential phase for adolescent growth. At this time, many teenagers are looking for their identity and are full of curiosity about many positive and negative things. Because of that, many teenagers fall into promiscuity. Therefore, the prevention of free association of teenagers should be massive in their immediate environment, one of which is the school environment. This research aims to describe and analyze the role of PIK R counselors in preventing the free association of students at MAN 1 Yogyakarta. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection using observation, interviews, and documentation. The subject of this research consists of 6 coordinators of the Youth Information and Counseling Center (PIK R), 1 student who is not a PIK R member, and 1 PIK R Builder. The results of the research analysis show that the efforts to prevent free association of MAN 1 Yogyakarta students are supported by 3 counselor roles PIK R at school is in accordance with the theory put forward by Raihatul Jannah from the theory of the National Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), namely as a peer counselor, facilitator, and motivator. In addition, the implementation of the PIK R program in an effort to prevent the free association of MAN 1 Yogyakarta students is more focused on the socialization of material from the module on teenagers issued by BKKBN and peer counseling which is part of peer education (peer control group) namely education that comes from, by, and for teenagers.
