Abstract

The background of the problem in this research is that converts who have just converted to Islam are people who really need guidance and support because of their lack of understanding about Islamic religious practices. Many of the converts who have been legalized are still relaxed and do not carry out worship based on Islam and do not carry out Allah's commands. Not only do they not carry out Allah's commands, there are even among converts who leave Islam because they are unable to carry out their obligations as a Muslim. So, an initiative is needed, namely to present a mentor who is an expert in Islamic Guidance to help converts so that converts can get a place of reference and protection. This study aims to find out, describe and analyze the process of Islamic guidance steps to increase the practice of converts to Islam at the Mualaf Center Indonesia, Yogyakarta Region. This study used a qualitative descriptive qualitative method, with the subject being one convert and one of religious advisor at the Mualaf Center Indonesia, Yogyakarta Region. In addition, the object of this research is the steps of Islamic guidance to improve the religious practice of a convert at the Mualaf Center Indonesia Yogyakarta Region. Collecting data using observation, interviews, documentation. Based on the results of this study, there are three stages of Islamic guidance carried out in increasing the practice of converts, namely the opening stage, the activity stage and the termination stage.
