Abstract

Football fans still often experience riots. Violent behavior carried out by fans, whether on the field or those watching from television screens, must have their own perception of the violent behavior that occurred. Students' perceptions of the rioting of supporters in Yogyakarta need to be examined because students are agents of change. This study uses a case study with four supporters (FR, HB, HM, LT) with data collection techniques using interviews. The results of this study show that there are variations in perception, influenced by experience, the intensity of being involved in riots, supporter interactions, moods, player disputes, personal experiences, and other triggers. Informants tend to view riots negatively with detrimental social and emotional impacts, without seeing the positive side or meaning in the phenomenon
