Abstract

Mental toughness plays an important role in athletes, low mental toughness in athletes can lead to the inability of athletes to display their abilities optimally on the field, whether when practicing or competing in a championship. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-confidence and competition anxiety on the mental toughness of DIY soccer athletes. The method used in this research is quantitative with 3 scales namely; confidence, match anxiety, and mental toughness. This study involved 60 respondents by collecting data using a questionnaire. Sampling using incidental sampling, where researchers involve respondents by chance. The analysis technique in this study was multiple regression using the SPSS 25 application. The results showed a significance of 0.007(p)<0,05 for self-confidence and a significance of 0.000(p)<0,05 for competition anxiety, thus indicating a significant relationship between mental toughness and confidence and competition anxiety. The self-confidence variable has an effective contribution value of 26.9% to mental toughness, while the competitive anxiety variable has an effective contribution value of 37.9% to mental toughness.
