Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between parental communication and the character of tolerance in high school students in Yogyakarta city. The population in this study were public high school students in Yogyakarta with a sample of 341 people. The sampling technique used is convinience sampling. The data collection tool in this study was in the form of a Likert scale consisting of a tolerance character scale and a parental communication scale. The data analysis method used is the Spearman rho correlation technique. The results of the analysis show a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.518 with a significance level (p) of 0.000 (p <0.05), this means that there is a significant relationship between parental communication and the character of tolerance, the higher parental communication, the higher tolerance character. The effective contribution of parental communication to the character of tolerance is 26.6%.
