Abstract

A lower rate of marital satisfaction cannot be considered a guarantee of a stable marriage relationship. On the other hand, the increased number of early marriages has various impacts on early marriage. This study aims to determine the relationship between psychological distress and religiosity with marital satisfaction in early marriage perpetrators. The sample in this study amounted to 82 subjects spread across various regions representing the provinces of Bengkulu, South Kalimantan, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta and Central Sulawesi. The Sampling this study using systematic random sampling technique. The measuring instruments used include the adaptation scale from ENRICH Marital Satisfaction adaption scale, The Centrality of Religosity Scale and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale. The data analysis technique used in this study is multiple linear regression model analysis. The results showed that the relationship between psychological distress and religiosity with marital satisfaction in early marriage is significant and positive (R2 = 0.493, p < 0.01). Another finding in this study is that psychological distress is significantly and negatively correlated. The higher the marital satisfaction, the lower the individual's psychological distress. Religiosity with marital satisfaction is significantly and positively correlated. The higher the marital satisfaction, the higher the individual's religiosity. Psychological distress and religiosity provide an effective contribution of 49.3 percent.
