Abstract

Santri students are individuals who carry out multiple roles. The large number of tasks and demands for the multiple roles that are carried out causes santri students to potentially experience academic stress. This study aims to determine the relationship between hardiness and self-regulated learning with academic stress on santri students. The method used in this research is correlational quantitative. Subjects who participated in this study were 141 students of students in Yogyakarta using the snowball sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis method. The results of the research show that the major hypothesis is proven. This analysis is shown by the F test with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05) with an R-Square value of 0.242. This shows that there is a simultaneous relationship between hardiness, self-regulated learning and academic stress in santri students with the influence of two independent variables on academic stress of 24.2%. This study also found a partial relationship, namely hardiness with academic stress p = 0.002 (p <0.05) with an R-Square value of 0.011 and self-regulated learning p = 0.000 (p <0.05) with an R-Square value of 0.186. The simultaneous effective contribution of hardiness and self-regulated learning to academic stress is 24.2% and the effective contribution of variable X1 to Y is 1.1% and the contribution of variable X2 to Y is 18.6%. This research can represent the condition of students with the role of santri in Yogyakarta, so that the results of this study can be used as an evaluation for both the higher education institutions or Islamic boarding schools, as well as the santri students themselves.
