Abstract

Digital literacy refers to how individuals build critical responses to the use of digital resources, in anticipation of the complex impacts of digitalization. Critical response includes functional skills where users are able to process digital media properly and wisely to avoid negative things that are detrimental. One of the citizens who is vulnerable to the negative impact of digital media is people with disabilities, especially people with low vision who have limited vision. In fact, currently the government is working on increasing and equalizing digital media accessibility with the theme "No One Left Behind" which aims to prevent people with disabilities with low vision from being left behind. The existence of limited vision in people with low vision affects the extent of their digital literacy skills, especially digital media which is synonymous with visualization elements that rely on the eyes of its users. This study aims to analyze digital skills in people with visual disabilities in Yogyakarta. The skills studied focus on one aspect of digital literacy namely "Digital Skills" which is associated with 5 digital literacy competencies according to Japelidi. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study were collected by interview, observation and documentation methods. The research subjects targeted people with low vision disabilities in Yogyakarta. The results of this study indicate that people with low vision disabilities in Yogyakarta have good digital skills. Even so, in relation to Japelidi's competencies, they only master 3 competencies on average, namely accessing, selecting, and understanding.
