Abstract

Communication activities are the main key in disaster management efforts, one of which is the delivery of disaster information. BPBD Pekalongan Regency has a strategic role in the process of conveying disaster information to the community. The purpose of this research is to find out and analyze the communication management carried out by BPBD Pekalongan Regency in conveying disaster information to the community. this research uses qualitative research and communication management theory. The data that has been processed is obtained through interviews, observation and documentation to BPBD Pekalongan Regency. The results of this study show that the efforts of BPBD Pekalongan Regency in carrying out their duties in conveying disaster information begin with analyzing the situation, mapping disaster-prone areas, then, determining the material to be conveyed to the community, processing disaster information in a more easily understood manner, determining the team on duty. In action and communication there are several programs such as socialization and training as well as disseminating disaster information through social media instagram and whatsapp groups related to early warning information, information on disaster events and others and collaborating with local media. Meanwhile, to evaluate communication activities, the Pekalongan Regency BPBD still relies on the response of volunteers, activities on social media, and community responses during training or socialization.
