Abstract

The use of monotonous learning models without supporting textbooks makes students less active and the learning outcomes achieved are not optimal. This study aims to determine the difference in improving student learning outcomes between classes using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by physics modules and without physics modules and to determine the effectiveness of PBL learning models assisted by physics modules on improving student learning outcomes. This research is a quantitative research with a nonequivalent control group design model. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with control class and experimental class samples from class X of SMA N 1 Sewon. The data collection technique of this study is a test using 10 multiple-choice questions covering six indicators and non-tests through observation of affective and psychomotor aspects with observation sheet instruments each covering two indicators. The results showed that there was a difference in improving student learning outcomes between experimental classes that used PBL learning models assisted by physics modules and classes that did not use physics modules. The average learning outcomes of experimental and control classes were respectively cognitive aspects were 86.88 and 81.67, affective aspects were 81.94 and 81.11, psychomotor aspects were 89.26 and 84.11. The N-Gain test results obtained of 0.60 are included in the medium category so that the PBL learning model assisted by physics modules can improve students' physics learning outcomes.
