Abstract

This study aims to: 1) determine the effect of currents on the respiratory mechanism of freshwater sharks. 2) Knowing how the quality of the respiratory mechanism module of freshwater shark (Dermogenys pusilla) is based on assessments from material experts and media experts. 3) Knowing how students respond to the respiratory mechanism module of freshwater shark (Dermogenys pusilla). This type of research is experimental research and R&D (Research and Development) by adapting the development model of Borg & Gall, 1983. The module is assessed using an instrument in the form of a questionnaire sheet, namely the assessment questionnaire of material experts, media experts, and students. The data obtained were analyzed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) followed by quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study were: 1) The results of the one-way ANOVA analysis revealed a significance value of 0.084<0.1, which means that there was a significant difference between each treatment. Post hoc test results using the DMRT method found that there was a significant difference between the life span of the control aquarium group (A1) and the life span of the current aquarium (A3), but there was no significant difference between the life span of the control aquarium group (A1) and the life span of the bubble aquarium (A2). This H1 which states that there is an influence of currents on the longevity of freshwater sharks is declared accepted. 2) product of the breathing mechanism module of freshwater shark (Dermogenys pusilla) as a source of independent learning for biology education students. 3) the quality of the breathing mechanism module of freshwater shark (Dermogenys pusilla) as a source of independent learning for biology education students is included in the “Very Good” category with an ideal percentage of 93% from material experts, 93% from media experts and 90% from students.
