Abstract

The Modern Era has a rapid effect on changes in almost all lines of life, including Pesantren. Pesantren are classified into two parts, namely salafiyah Pesantren whose main characteristic is the teaching of classical Islamic books (kitab kuning) as the core of education, either using the sorogan, bandongan, or wetonan system and kholafiyah Pesantren, which are Pesantren in which there is a salaf education system and a more complete classical system, because there are public schools and the addition of diniyah, colleges, cooperatives, and Arabic-English takhassus. In the Modern Era, it is natural that kholafiyah Pesantren become the priority of education. So it is not impossible, salafiyah Pesantren when faced with more organised/modern education will one day be abandoned. Pondok Pesantren Al-Lathifiyyah 2 and Al-Wahabiyyah 1 Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang, are salafiyah Pesantren that still survive and even develop. This phenomenon makes this research interesting to do. This research is a descriptive qualitative research by taking the research location at Al-Lathifiyyah 2 and Al-Wahabiyyah 1 Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang Islamic Boarding School. Data collection was done by observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by means of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. Data validity checks and validity tests were carried out by data triangulation. From the results of this study found that: (1) the leadership model applied in Pondok Pesantren Al-Lathifiyyah 2 and Al-Wahabiyyah 1 Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang is a leadership model, charismatic, democratic, and paternalistic. (2) The supporting factors are the character and personal attitude of Ibu Nyai who is wise, disciplined, diligent, flexible, nurturing and maintaining trust. The Pesantren environment that supports mutual cooperation between management stakeholders, positive support from community leaders and local residents. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor is the limitation of space. Time limitations and conditions after Ibu Nyai served as Regent of Jombang. (3) The leadership role of Mrs Munjidah Wahab in the development, namely: Ibu Nyai as a caregiver, Ibu Nyai as the second parent of santri, Ibu Nyai as an example, Ibu Nyai as a motivator, Ibu Nyai as a policy maker, Ibu Nyai as a communicator.
