Abstract

Books with bare Arabic texts are known to have a high level of complexity in their sentence structure and not everyone can master them, even students who have studied them still experience difficulties. The success of the teaching and learning process is strongly influenced by external and internal factors. Selection of appropriate and effective learning methods is an external factor that needs attention. The Tamyiz method as a method of reading and translating books has been tested to provide strategic keys in making it easier to study books with Arabic texts. This background prompted researchers to explore the implementation of the Tamyiz method which was applied at MBS Pleret Yogyakarta, as well as to find out more about its relationship to increasing students' learning motivation. The type of research used is field research using descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. Sources of research data are people, places and paper that interact synergistically with each other. Data collection techniques apply observation, interviews and documentation. The methodological data analysis techniques use the research techniques of Miles, Huberman and Saldana with the stages of condensing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The last stage of the data validity was checked using triangulation of sources, theory and transferability. The results of this study state that: 1) Implementation of the application of the Tamyiz method at MBS Pleret Yogyakarta is carried out through several stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage and finally the evaluation stage. 2) The Tamyiz method implemented at the SBM Pleret can increase students' learning motivation by demonstrating the emergence of positive mentality experienced by students when studying with the Tamyiz method, namely the ability to pay more attention. The Tamyiz method is considered to have novelty, which is considered a new method that tends to attract their attention, besides that there is also a personal significance, that is, there is continuous relevance to what students need in learning. 3) Learning with the Tamyiz method at MBS Pleret can improve skills in translating bald Arabic texts, because the learning model is carried out with integrative repetition and this is very effective in storing information in long term memory. Apart from that what is interesting about Tamyiz is learning by singing and this becomes a form of encoding that enters memory. 4) The problems that occur during the implementation of the Tamyiz method include the lack of certified Tamyiz method teachers, the allocation of learning time which is still minimal, the need for cadres to peer tutors.
