Abstract

The development of children’s creativity is fundamental for early childhood because it gives children the enthusiasm to continue learning and being creative. Therefore, children’s creativity must get serious attention from teachers and parents. Indoctrination, values education, and parenting can be a strategy for developing children’s creativity if done correctly, but if not, it can actually hinder the development of children’s creativity. This study aims to analyze the development of children’s creativity activities in PAUD (Early Childhood Education) Semarang City, which focuses on: (1) what activities were developed in PAUD Semarang City which later became the starting point for the development of children’s creativity, (2) what forms of collaboration between teachers and parents influenced the development of children’s creativity in PAUD Semarang City, (3) why indoctrination, value education, and parenting can influence and change the practice of developing children’s creativity, and (4) how successful is the development of children’s creativity through indoctrination, values education, and parenting in PAUD Semarang City so that new patterns are created in developing children’s creativity so that best practice and malpractice are discovered in developing children’s creativity in PAUD Semarang City through indoctrination, values education, and parenting. The analysis of this study used qualitative research with a phenomenological approach based on developmental ecology. Data were collected by in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The theoretical framework uses the concept of development based on quantum learning, developmental ecological theory from Urie Bronfenbrenner, psychosocial development of children from Erik H. Erikson, and child parenting from Diana Baumrind. The data were then analyzed using data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing and verification methods. The result of this study is an analysis of the four main focuses. First, the activities for developing children’s creativity are carried out at PAUD in Semarang City through assembling patterned objects, assembling puzzles, coloring pictures, folding paper, and composing simple shapes, as well as conducting creativity development programs. Second, collaboration between teachers and parents is carried out through parenting as well as open communication and interaction between teachers and parents so that the development of children’s creativity is always monitored. Third, indoctrination, values education, and parenting influence children’s creative development, which goes hand in hand with the attitudes taught and practiced by teachers and parents, namely independence, trust, and the courage to ask questions. These roles are related to one another. Fourth, the success of developing children’s creativity through indoctrination, value education, and parenting in PAUD Semarang City is caused by the fact that teachers and parents include important aspects in developing children’s creativity, namely exemplary-based indoctrination, consistency-based value education, and parenting based on attention and intense presence emotions, as well as the conducive environment. Indoctrination, values education, and child parenting are not only the basis for the development of creativity but also the other potentials of children. In addition, based on indoctrination, value education, and child parenting, the development of children’s creativity can be done easily.
