Abstract

E-Court is a series of administrative and judicial processes that employ an electronic system, commencing with Online Case Registration at the Court, payment acceptance, summons/notifications delivery, responses, replies, rejoinders, conclusions, acceptance of legal remedies, and electronic case document submission. In the year 2021, the number of E-Court cases at the Kotabumi Religious Court totaled 1353, with only 180 cases registered through E-Court, constituting a percentage of 13.30%. In contrast, within the jurisdiction of Lampung's Religious Courts, the E-Court case percentage ranged from 31.05% to 83.09%. The subsequent year (2022) witnessed a significant increase in E-Court case registration at the Kotabumi Religious Court, totaling 687 out of 1355 overall cases, with a registered percentage via E-Court of 51.04%. This indicates an upsurge in the court's case handling. Based on this phenomenon, this study discusses the implementation of the E-Court system at the Kotabumi Religious Court and the court's role amidst the noteworthy rise in E-Court case registrations. This research is conducted as a field study, involving direct observation at the researched location, utilizing both deductive and inductive reasoning. It adopts a descriptive-analytical approach with a normative-sociological perspective. Data collection techniques encompass observation, interviews, and documentation. The focus is on the implementation of the E-Court system at the Kotabumi Religious Court, analyzed using Lawrance Meir Friedman's legal system framework to attain accurate and conclusive results. The findings of this study reveal that: The Kotabumi Religious Court, in terms of E-Court system implementation, faces limitations in infrastructure and is deemed in need of enhancement. This is evidenced by the presence of only 2 courtrooms, with Courtroom 1 equipped for E-Court proceedings, while Courtroom 2 lacks the necessary facilities. The limited role of service ambassadors at the PTSP (Integrated Licensing and Services Center) in promoting and disseminating information regarding E-Court application usage is noted. The Kotabumi Religious Court plays a pivotal role behind the substantial rise in E-Court cases from 2021 to 2022. This role includes conducting outreach to the community through regular Mobile Court sessions held once a week, providing direct information dissemination. Additionally, various forms of dissemination such as animated videos, news, the court's website, and the involvement of Advocates who are mandated to register cases through E-Court also contribute to its role.
