Abstract

Government Regulation No. 21 of 1994 concerning the Implementation of Prosperous Family Development, it has been explained that each family member is obliged to develop self-quality and family functions through efforts to improve education, health, economy, socio-culture, mental-spiritual, religious values, and increase other welfare businesses, so that families can live more independently and be able to improve the quality of the family, one of them is by attending a premarital school. Premarital school is a means to provide knowledge, understanding, skills, and awareness to adolescents of marriage age about household and family life. But in practice, not everyone is able to build a family that is sakīnah, mawaddah, and rahmah, causing many divorces in Indonesia. This made the author interested in conducting research on role of premarital school from the perspective of maṣlaḥah mûrsalah. This research was conducted to find out whether premarital school play an important dan beneficial role for the participants and the committee that participates in it. This field research conducted at the Nurul Ashri Deresan mosque is a qualitative research that is descriptive-analityc in nature, namely describing the research object through real data in the form of narrative descriptions, accompanied by analysis with role theory and maṣlaḥah mûrsalah for solving problems. This research uses a normative-empirical approach that examines the implementation of positive law or Islamic law in every legal event that occurs in society by conducting observations, interviews, and documentations. The results of this research indicate that the premarital school at the Nurul Ashri Deresan mosque plays an important role for the participants and the committee who follow it. This is known from premarital school whose role is to guide and provide provisions in the form of insight, mental readiness, psysical readiness, attitude maturity, and how to manage finances properly and correctly. The role of premarital school in Nurul Ashri Deresan mosque is in accordance with the theory of maṣlaḥah mûrsalah. This is because premarital school play an important role by providing many benefits, especially to couples who are getting married, such as knowledge that is useful for minimizing the occurrence of divorce.
