Abstract

Economic empowerment for people with disabilities through batik production in the Difabel Zone community is an empowerment activity with the core activity of making batik. Economic empowerment activities are formed with the aim of society against Persons with Disabilities as a social burden and actively involving Persons with Disabilities in economic activities so as to achieve welfare. The focus of this research is to find out the process of implementing economic empowerment for persons with disabilities through the production of hand-written batik in the Difabel Zone community and to analyze the maqa>s}id al-syari>‘ah perspective on economic empowerment. This type of research is field research using several data collection methods, namely interviews, documentation, and library. This research uses maqa>s}id al-syari>‘ah theory as a deepening analysis. The results of this study indicate that with economic empowerment through batik production in the Difabel Zone Community, people with disabilities get their rights as fully empowered human beings. Economic empowerment provides an improvement in economic conditions and makes it easier for people with physical disabilities to play a role in community spaces marked by an increase in the conditions of self-awareness, psychology, social, access, mobility, purchasing power, welfare, and role in the family. Economic empowerment through batik production for people with disabilities in the Difabel Zone Community is in accordance with maqa>s}id al-syari>'ah theory as the purpose of sharia is to maintain benefits for people with physical disabilities, especially in the protection of property (hifdz al-mal), self-protection (hifdz an-nafs), and protection of offspring and honor (hifdz an-nasl).
