Abstract

The development of science and technogy (IPTEK) encourages the digitalization of education that makes educators and students can easily utilize technological tools such as smartphones to access learning information. The use of mobile learning integrated with STEM is one of the efforts in utilizing technology adapted to the 2013 curriculum to develop the 4C skills that learnes must have in the 21st century. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) – based learning provides opportunities for learners to understand the world as a whole not just as a fragmented event. This study aims to 1) determine the results of the development of android-based mobile learning integrated with STEM teaching materials on sound waves, 2) determine the quality of android-based mobile learning integrated with STEM teaching materials on sound waves, 3) determine students’ responses to android-based mobile learning integrated with STEM teaching materials on sound waves. This research is a Research and Development by adapting the procedure developed by Thiagarajan (1974), namely 4-D, which includes the Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination stages. This research is limited to the development stage, namely the broad trial and the implementation of learning using the product. The instruments used in this research are researcher, interview guidelines, expert validation sheets, product assessment sheets, learner response questionnaires, and observation sheets for the implementation of learning using the product. Assesment of the quality of teaching materials and students’ responses to android-based mobile learning integrated with STEM was carried out using a Likert scale with a scale of 4 made in the from of a checklist. The qualitative data obtained is then converted into quantitative data. The results of this study are in the form of teaching materials in the form of mobile learning applications based on android integrated STEM on sound wave physics material. The quality of the STEM integrated android-based mobile learning application based on the assessment of material experts and media experts has very good criteria (SB) with an overall average score of 3,67 and 3,50. Meanwhile, the assessment of physics teachers has very good criteria (SB) with an overall average score of 3,54. The results of students’ responses in the limited trial and broad trial obtained the criteria strongly agree (SS) with an average score of 3,47 and 3,38. The results of this study indicate that the android-based mobile learning application integrated with STEM application can be used as one of teaching materials in learning on sound wave physics material.
