Abstract

The monotheism education process will run well if it starts with good planning, maximum implementation, and thorough evaluation. So that later it will produce individuals (products) who have strong faith. However, if we look at the reality on the ground, the problems of monotheism education are still clearly visible. Starting from a learning process that is only theoretical but has no application in life. In fact, in monotheism education, students need to implement the theories taught in class into their daily practices. In general, traditional Islamic boarding schools and modern Islamic boarding schools are at the forefront of institutions providing monotheistic education in Indonesia. Therefore, researchers made the monotheism educational institution the target of research. This research aims to compare monotheism education in traditional Islamic boarding schools and modern Islamic boarding schools. This research was conducted in two locations, namely the Al-Fithroh Islamic Boarding School located in Pleret Bantul and the Muhammadiyah Boarding School Islamic Boarding School located in Prambanan Sleman. The type of this research is field research which is qualitative in nature. Data collection methods use observation, interviews and documentation methods. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction, data presentation, then drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that: 1) The implementation of monotheism education in traditional Islamic boarding schools and modern Islamic boarding schools has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of traditional Islamic boarding schools are solemn learning, superior student manners, superior student memorization, and superior social relations. The shortcomings of monotheism education at the Al-Fithroh Islamic boarding school are that it takes less time to implement it, the students are sleepy, the students are less critical, and there is a lack of evaluation. The advantages of the Muhammadiyah Boarding School Islamic boarding school are intensive implementation time, the condition of the students is maintained, students are critical, and intensive evaluation. The shortcomings of the Muhammadiyah Boarding School Islamic boarding school are that it is noisy during learning, lack of student etiquette, lack of memorization, and lack of social relations. 2) Of the eight aspects studied, there are seven differences and only one similarity. The similarities lie in the infrastructure, while the differences lie in the aspects of students, goals, educators, materials, methods, evaluation and environment. The main factor behind these differences cannot be separated from the policies and views of each institution.
