Abstract

This study aims to determine the Role of Parenting in the Formation of Children's Character in terms of the Education Level of Parents in Tieng Village, Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. This research belongs to the type of ethnographic descriptive research which is said to be field research, because it is carried out in the field in a natural setting. Researchers observe the behavior of a person or group as it is about the characteristics and habits that occur in the community. With the subject of the local Village Head and 4 informants as a sample of parents. Data collection methods in the form of observation methods, interview methods and documentation methods. The steps of data analysis include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that: There are forms of parenting, namely: 1) Authoritarian parenting, 2) Authoritative parenting, 3) Permissive parenting, 4) Uniloved parenting (indifferent). The role given by parents to the development of their children, namely: giving an example to children, letting children be themselves, providing supervision and direction to children. Factors that hinder the formation of children's character, namely internal factors include: lack of openness from the child, difficulty understanding the child's condition, and negative acceptance. This creates an unfavorable relationship between parents and children and creates discomfort for children to parents. External factors include: the influence of the outside environment and peers
