Abstract

The idea for this research began with the researcher's knowledge of a foundation that actively helps children with cancer to understand the stress management of PAI teachers. As a PAI teacher, it is not easy to provide lessons for children with cancer because their condition is sometimes suddenly tired and lethargic due to the influence of drugs or chemotherapy. The aim of this research is to determine stress factors, ways of stress management, and the urgency of stress management among PAI teachers at the Indonesian Cancer Child Care Foundation, Yogyakarta. This type of research is field research. The approach that researchers use is a psychological approach. The psychological approach aims to explain a person's mental state, this mental state can be observed through behavior, attitudes, ways of thinking and various other mental symptoms. In research, information about these symptoms can come from various things, such as observations, interviews or from letters or personal documents being studied. The results of the research concluded firstly, the level of stress that PAI Sekolah-Ku teachers experienced had physical and psychological effects. There are several levels of stress experienced by PAI teachers, namely mild, moderate, severe and very severe stress levels. For mild levels of stress, the environment is not yet ideal, the teaching and learning environment is not yet ideal, student behavior and the administration process of assisted students are complicated. Moderate levels of stress include salaries that are not what you want and disputes between co-workers. Severe stress levels are the demands of having to master more than one subject and the stress levels are very heavy being a charity event organizer. Second, the factors that cause stress for PAI Sekolah-ku teachers, the scope of PAI learning is divided into 2, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include teaching special students, namely children who are cancer survivors and frequently changing students, making administrative reports every weekend, making substantive material, and the requirement to master more than one subject. Meanwhile, external factors include salaries that are not as desired, charity activities, disputes between co-workers, the teaching and learning environment is not yet ideal, and student behavior. Third, the stress management carried out by PAI Sekolah-Ku Teachers applies stress management techniques, namely always having a positive attitude, adjusting diet and exercise patterns, taking breaks from routine, following simple methods, and consulting professionals. Fourth, the urgency of implementing stress management for PAI Sekolah-Ku Teachers includes, among other things, reducing the negative impact on mental health, improving quality of life, reducing the risk of physical disorders, increasing productivity, increasing emotional resilience, improving social relationships.
