Abstract

The decline of character is a problem that occurs in the present. The practice of education in Indonesia is unable to build intelligence in a balanced way. Currently, the system of education system emphazises more on cognitive development and pays less attention to affective development. So, it is necessary to apply Islamic character-based education. This study aims to: (1) identify integrity values which are applied in character education for students through PAI learning in Class XI APP SMK Taruna Maritim Dirgantara; (2) identify the application of integrity values in character education for the students through PAI learning in class XI APP SMK Taruna Maritim Dirgantara, and (3) identify strategies for implementing integrity values in student character education through PAI instruction in grade XI APP SMK Taruna Maritim Dirgantara. The type of research used is qualitative research, and the nature of this research is descriptive. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation, and documentation. Checking the validity of the data is applied by using triangulation, whereas data analysis is conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research draws three conclusions, namely: 1) the values of integrity applied in the character education of students are through PAI learning in grade XI APP SMK Taruna Maritim Dirgantara, namely the value of integrity. The character values that are included in the values of integrity are the character values of honesty, responsibility, love of truth, trustworthiness, role model, discipline, and consistency, moral commitment; (2) the application of integrity values in student character education through PAI instructions in grade XI APP of SMK Taruna Maritim Dirgantara can be seen at the learning implementation stage which includes preliminary activities, core activities, and closing activities, and (3) the strategies used in applying the values of integrity in character education of students are through PAI instructions in grade XI APP SMK Taruna Maritim Dirgantara, namely by using a strategy of teaching knowledge about character or moral knowing, a moral modeling strategy, a strategy of fostering a sense of loving goodness or moral feeling and loving, and moral acting.
