Abstract

This research is motivated by the development phenomenon in five year old children which currently in Indonesia shows that 5-11% of children throughout Indonesia experience delays in development, especially in motoric and cognitive development experienced by children based on data from research journals in Indonesia. This was then supported by the findings of researchers at the Muslimat NU Masyitoh 18 Podosugih Kindergarten, Pekalongan City, that of the 37 children who took the basic fine motor and cognitive skills test, there were 10 children with low test scores. By looking at this problem, the researchers want to hold a game activity called an obstacle course which is expected to help improve fine motor and cognitive abilities in children. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the Obstacle Course game in stimulating fine motor and cognitive development of students involved and participating in this game. And on the other hand, it is also to find out how much influence the Obstacle Course game has in stimulating fine motor and cognitive development in students who participate in this game. This type of research is a type of quantitative research using a preexperimental design approach with the research design used, namely One group Pretest-Posttest Design by carrying out two measurements, namely using a pretest and a posttest. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, tests and documentation. Meanwhile, the analysis used in this research is descriptive statistical data analysis which includes various tests, namely validity test, reliability test, normality test, homogeneity test, N Gain Test and for hypothesis testing in this research includes the t test. The research results show that based on the output table of t test results, a sig value of 0.000 is obtained, which means it is smaller than 0.05. Thus, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so the conclusion is that there are differences in students' fine motor skills and cognitive scores before and after being given the obstacle course game. This can be seen from the results of the post test scores, 10 students got Good marks as expected. With the average score for all participants being 61.50 and the highest score being 64 and the lowest score they obtained being 58. And also the results of the homogeneity test had a significance value of 0.94 > 0.05. The N-Gain Score result was 0.64 and the N-Gain percent result was 64.7%. So it can be concluded that providing an obstacle course game has a significant effect on increasing the fine motor skills and cognitive values of class B students at the Muslimat NU Masyitoh 18 Podosugih Kindergarten.
