Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of students' ability to write scientifically. This is proven by the paper writing score of (60%) of 14 students who got a score ≤ 70. The aims of this research are 1) to analyze and describe the relationship between academic achievement and scientific writing skills, 2) to analyze and describe the relationship between emotional intelligence and scientific writing skills. , and 3) analyze and describe the influence of academic achievement and emotional intelligence on scientific writing skills. The research method used is a quantitative method with a correlational research type. The research location is at S1 PGMI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The research was conducted in Semester III of the 2023/2024 academic year with research subjects of 103 active students. Data collection includes questionnaires and document studies. The data collection instruments used were questionnaire sheets, product assessment sheets and documentation. The data analysis used is quantitative data analysis in the form of instrument feasibility analysis, descriptive analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this research concluded that: 1) There is a negative but significant relationship between academic achievement and scientific writing skills for Social Sciences course assignments in undergraduate students at PGMI FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, with a contribution of 97.61% in the very strong category. 2) There is no relationship between emotional intelligence and scientific writing skills for Social Sciences course assignments in undergraduate students at PGMI FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, with a contribution of 1.06% in the very low category. 3) There is a simultaneous positive and significant influence between academic achievement and intelligence on scientific writing skills for Social Sciences course assignments in undergraduate students at PGMI FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, with an influence contribution of 98.6% in the very strong category.
