Abstract

Character building plays an important role in creating quality students, so that character education is applied in all educational institutions, especially in Islamic boarding schools. This thesis research was conducted at the educational institution Roudlotut Thullab Islamic Boarding School Magelang. The type of research used in this study is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The objectives of this study are: 1) to gain deeper knowledge about education management in character building through the role of family and the example of caregivers at Roudlotut Thullab Islamic Boarding School Magelang. 2) to know the key to the success of education management in character building at Roudlotut Thullab Islamic Boarding School Magelang. The results of the study showed that: 1) character education management at Roudlotut Thullab Islamic Boarding School Magelang has been running well, as evidenced by before carrying out the learning activity process, the management made a learning plan and made rules that should not be violated by students. Organizing in Roudlotut Thullab Islamic Boarding School is carried out with all levels of management in accordance with their respective duties. The implementation of education in the formation of the character of students, caregivers and all administrators conducts continuous learning. This is done so that all students better understand the knowledge that has been obtained and can practice it in everyday life. Supervision and evaluation of education is carried out by holding deliberations every month. This is done to find out the extent of success in the teaching and learning process and find out the obstacles in teaching and learning activities. 2) The key to success in building the character of students cannot be separated from caregivers and families. The role between caregivers and family as motivation and role model for all students. In addition, the success of education management in character building at Roudlotut Thullab Islamic Boarding School cannot be separated from the management function itself, namely planning, organizing, actuating, controlling.
