Abstract

The research focuses on library services as a form of social construction, actors' self-perceptions, crucial moments in development, synergy among actor elements, as well as obstacles and solutions that arise. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, followed by thematic analysis using the Social Construction of Technology conceptual framework, namely social relevant groups, interpretive flexibility, closure and stabilization, and the Wider Context as analytical tools. The research results indicate that the digital library services at UPT Library UNY are the result of a social construction involving the interaction of various actor elements, including librarians, users, and system developers. This social construction creates a dynamic environment that is responsive to technological developments and user needs. Field findings show that the social construction in digital library services at UNY is also influenced by various external factors. These external factors include a broader social context, such as budget constraints. Several recommendations are provided to enhance digital library services at UPT Library UNY, namely: strengthening user engagement, improving training and awareness, maintaining flexible infrastructure, stimulating collaboration between institutions, managing security risks, and forming innovation teams.
