Abstract

The proposed cost of organizing the Hajj in 2023 was reported by online news media in Indonesia. One of the news media that reported the proposed 2023 Hajj Implementation Fee was Detikcom. This research aims to find the genealogy of discourse in Detikcom's reporting on the proposed 2023 Hajj Implementation Fee. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with critical discourse analysis from Michel Foucault's perspective as the analytical knife. The results showed three main discourses conveyed sequentially in the news of the proposed 2023 Hajj Implementation Fee in the news published by Detikcom. The three discourses are the nominal cost of Hajj, the increase in the cost of Hajj, and the reduction of Hajj subsidies.
