Abstract

The study aims to explore the role of Islamic boarding schools, or Pesantren , in addressing environmental issues in contemporary times. As a response to the growing climate change crisis, Pesantren have transformed their roles beyond just teaching Islamic studies to also contribute to community development. The study focuses on the contribution of Pesantren Lintang Songo in addressing environmental issues through sustainibility livelihood in areas such as education, economics, culture, and the environment. The Lintang Songo Pesantren has transformed into an eco-friendly one through the management of natural resources. Furthermore, the impact of Lintang Songo Pesantren 's contributions has improved the quality of life for the community through community-based empowerment through eco green programs. The research aims to explore the potential of Pesantren in addressing climate change issues through environmental management in eco green programs followed by Lintang Songo Pesantren . The research methodology uses a constructivist paradigm with a case study approach, collecting qualitative data using multiple sampling methods, including interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis and verification are carried out using triangulation techniques. The study found that Pesantren can develop and transform in environmental management. However, based on the data obtained, community empowerment activities around Lintang Songo Pesantren still depend on the presence of the Pesantren and have not yet reached self-reliance level.
