Abstract

Cases that often occur are mothers who are unable to control their emotions when raising children. Currently, it is often observed that mothers feel pressure or stress in parenting children with special needs because they are different from other children. Social support from others is one of the factors associated with maternal stress. This study aims to determine the Level of Stress in Relation to Social Support in Mothers with Children with Special Needs in Special Needs Schools. The subjects involved as respondents are 90 mothers of children with special needs at State Special School 2 Bantul, who were all selected using total sampling. The measurement tool used is a questionnaire that has undergone validity and reliability testing. Data analysis was conducted using software with the Pearson correlation coefficient method. The results showed that the relationship between social support and maternal stress in Children with Special Needs is 0.890, which falls into the category of very strong. This indicates that the greater the social support given, the less stress mothers feel, and vice versa. The Effective Contribution (EC) of the Social Support aspect is 69.36%. This means that there are other factors influencing maternal stress, such as variables like age characteristics, economic status, and mother's occupation
