Abstract

The results of observations in the field on the teaching media used when learning thematic subjects of Indonesian language material for class V at SDN 1 Pemurus Dalam was less effective in improving students' skills in writing narrative essays. This development research aims to: (1) Produce Fun Thinkers media to be able to improve students' narrative essay writingskills. (2) Knowing the level of validity of the Fun Thinkers media, and (3) Knowing the effectiveness or learning outcomes of Fun Thinkers media development to improve the skills of writing narrative essays in fifth grade students of SDN 1 Pemurs Dalam Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. This research was conducted using research and development methods, this study aims to produce a product in the form of Fun Thinkers media, the research location is at SDN 1 Pemurus Dalam Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan province, with the population being all students in the experimental group and the control group. totaling 30 students, and the type of population in this study used a nonequivalent control group design, the design of this study used the ADDIE model which consisted of five stages, namely Analysis (describes) design (design), development (development) implementation (implementation) and Evaluation (evaluation), the instrument of data collection in this research is data from expert assessment in the form of questionnaires, student responses in the form of questionnaires, tests, observation sheets and analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that: 1. the development of Fun Thinkers media, especially in Indonesian language lessons, the material for writing narrative essays for class V is packaged in the form of an application on a smartphone, this Fun Thinkers media focuses more on the skills of students in producing a work in the form of narrative essays in development of a main idea into a story that has a plot. 2. The feasibility test of Media Fun Thinkers that was developed is considered suitable to be used as a source of learning Indonesian language for writing narrative essays based on the assessment of instrument experts, material experts, media experts, practitioner experts/students, and test subjects in the form of experimental groups and control groups. 3. The implication analysis of Fun Thinkers development to improve narrative essay writing skills resulted in the calculation of hypothesis testing obtained from the comparison of the average value of the experimental posttest and control posttest in learning using the Fun Thinkers media 8,262 and in the control group 2,048 so that it can be proven that there is a significant effect on use of Fun Thinkers media.
