Abstract

Self regulation in strengthening the values of religious moderation is important to develop an individual's self-configuration in the face of problems that exist in everyday life in particular prevention of the emergence of radical understanding. In the context of the prevention of radicalization, the application of self regulation in strengthening the values of religious moderation in the PP. Nurul Ummah Kotagede Yogyakarta is rated quite well. The program carried out by the boarding houses helped the self-regulation of the centurion in strengthening the values of religious moderation and preventing the entry of radical understanding amongst centurions. This research aims to investigate the role of self regulation in strengthening the values of religious moderation as an attempt to prevent radical understanding among the Pondok Pesantren Nurul Ummah (PPNU) of Kotagede Yogyakarta. This research method uses qualitative research with a psychological approach. The research subjects consisted of the head of the management, the establishment, and the center of the PPNU Kotagede Yogyakarta. The location of the research is the PPNU Kotagede Yogyakarta student complex. Data collection is done with interviews, observations and documentation. The data collected is analyzed by way of condensation, presentation of data then concluded or verified. The validity test of the data in this study is in-depth observation and triangulation. Research findings show that self-regulation plays an important role in developing self-management not only strengthens the values of religious moderation in daily religious practice, but also provides internal protection against the potential embedded in radical understanding. The implementation of self-regulation at UNDP is not only focused on the aspects of worship, but also involves the development of emotional and social intelligence. This study shows the implications of self-regulation in strengthening the values of religious moderation against the prevention of the intrusion of radical perceptions amongst centrians who have proven that no UNDP centri exposed or indicated has a radical perception. The research contributed to an understanding of the link between self regulation and the strengthening of religious moderation values in the Nurul Ummah reception house, in the hope that the findings could provide guidance for the development of radical prevention approaches in Islamic educational institutions.
