Abstract

This research is a phenomenological study of Pamali culture and the psychological well-being of the Baduy Kanekes Banten indigenous community. The aim of this research is to explore the experience, meaning and impact of Pamali culture on the psychological well-being of the Baduy tribe of Kanekes Banten using Ryff & Keyes' theory of Psychological Well-Being. This type of research is qualitative using a descriptive phenomenological approach, the author selected informants using purposive techniques. Data collection techniques used include data reduction, internal presentation and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, testing the validity of the data was carried out by triangulating sources, techniques and time. The results of this research describe the meaning of Pamali culture for the indigenous Baduy people of Banten which is described from experience and proven by the impact of the presence of Pamali culture. The results of the research findings related to experience are: 1). Baduy people are not burdened with Pamali culture. 2). The community adheres to Pamali culture 3). The community maintains Pamali cultural traditions. Then the Baduy indigenous people interpret Pamali culture as follows: 1). Pamali as a guide to life 2). Pamali is parallel to the Wiwitan religious beliefs. 3). Pamali as guidance and guidance in community life. Then from that meaning, the impact on the Baduy tribe community is: 1). The Baduy community lives side by side in harmony. 2). Baduy people feel comfortable following Pamali culture. 3). Equality in the Baduy indigenous community of Banten. 4). The Baduy indigenous community is independent, this then creates psychological well-being for the Baduy indigenous community, Kanekes Banten.
