Abstract

Interreligious dialogue in society is often a conscious effort to build harmonious interreligious relations. This thesis focuses on exploring the model of dialogue between Muslims and Protestants in Batua, Makassar through activities that occur in the community. then, the author attempts to categorize these forms of interreligious encounter by borrowing the paradigm of Seven Moments of Dialogue from J.B. Banawiratma, and George Herbert Mead's theory of symbolic interaction. In conducting field research, the author conducts interviews and direct observations of activities in the community. The author concludes that several activities such as the Batua Village PKK, regular RT and RW meetings, and night patrols together between religious communities, especially Muslims and Protestants, are forms of dialogue in community life, which then developed into a place to share faith at the level of experience and action dialogue. Among the factors that support such peaceful relations are strong cultural and ethnic ties, parental teachings, the role of religious figures, the influence of the Batua government, and personal awareness.
