Abstract

Research on the implementation of bibliotherapy by Bethesda Hospital Library Yogyakarta to inpatients aims to determine the implementation bibliotherapy by the Bethesda Hospital Library Yogyakarta to inpatients. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection methods using observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is inductive using an interactive model based on the theory of Miles and Huberman that is by, 1) data reduction, 2) presentation of data, and 3) withdrawal of conclusion/verification. Results from this study indicate that the implementation bibliotherapy in the Bethesda Hospital Library Yogyakarta on inpatients already done the maximum though in a few steps are still not optimal. This activity is motivated by the importance of entertainment and motivation for patients from the psychological side, for mental patients to be calm. The purpose of the implementation of bibliotherapy by Bethesda Hospital Library Yogyakarta to inpatients are 1) to help alleviate the suffering of patients treated, 2) to provide services to patients as a special service provided by the hospital. How to provision of reading materials by Bethesda Hospital Library Yogyakarta, include 1) readers consulting services, 2) individual and group therapy, and 3) specific activities. While the stages bibliotherapy by inpatients includes three stages, namely 1) identification, 2) catharsis, and 3) insight.
