Abstract

Events in libraries are mostly used for activities in reading, writing, and a place to learn requires adequate lighting intensity. Lighting is a good library space provides comfort in their activities indoors. This is one aspect of library service to the satisfaction and comfort user. This research was conducted in the library reading room STIE Widya Wiwaha Yogyakarta. With the purpose of evaluating the artificial lighting in the library reading room STIE Widya Wiwaha. Does it fit with the minimum lighting standards recommended by SNI 03-6575-2001 Procedures On Artificial Lighting System Design Building that is equal to 300 lux. This research is descriptive quantitative method ergonomics approach. Data collected through secondary data and primary data. I did it with the primary data of observation and data skuder authors do through documentation and interviews. The tools used in this research that gauge length (the meter), luxmeter lutron brand 101 A-lx light intensity measuring instrument, a tool for visual material that is digital camera canon B80. From the results of research can be seen that the intensity of artificial lighting in the library reading room STIE Widya Wiwaha lighting does not meet the minimum standards recommended by SNI 03-6575- 2001 amounted to 300 lux. Artificial lighting each of the reading room of the newspaper reading room at 51 lux, 66 lux reading room circulation, reference and reading room was 41 lux. The problems that occur on artificial lighting in the library STIE Widya Wiwaha is still there among the lamp is not lit. The reflection of light from the floor that resulted in eye glare and quickly exhausted. The intensity of illumination of the lights do not maximal due to the long lifetime of the lamp, and lights that are not suitable to be used still attached to the armature. Dust off the lights and armature which result in reduced light intensity distribution. STIE Widya Wiwaha library so that lighting is adequate standards have been recommended can be done several things, which. Gave a dark-colored carpet on the floor reading area so that no reflections upon the occurrence of too large, such as brown or black carpet. Immediately replace the dead lights and lamps using old-old with the new lights. All lights are lit in the room in order to get maximum exposure
