Abstract

College is a the education institution at most getting attention of society. There is assorted of college of country and private sector with the quality nicely. Start from academy, college is till university of diploma program, master is till pasca master. In this time is 118 college in Yogyakarta with formulation: university counted 20, institution counted 5, college counted 32, academy counted 54 and polytechnic counted 7. To the number of colleges is such as have been formulated the generate emulation between colleges to draw the new student candidate to continue his education. That thing make the college work extra improving the him quality, with a purpose to be society look into the the college have the value more compared to is other college. Besides, education world specially university, these days experience of the crisis that happened effect of various faced challenge so that can downhill of university image. Between two fires that university have to formulate again his identity or vision and his mission. University face the happening of " fragmentasi" science. Same thing is is also experienced of by Universitas Gadjah Mada ( UGM). To improve the repair university image don't only done in area formulation of vision and his mission, UGM also other efforts be like improving the publication and university quality. One of the publication medium UGM is press release in SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat period of 15 January - 15 Februari 2010. At this research, researcher wish to know tendency press release to image UGM. Perception having taken steps to press release, researcher divide him become five unit analyse with each categorize that is activity, relationship, devotion, achievement and length press release. Hereinafter press release this will be analysed use the method content analysis or content analysis. In content analysis method analyse the data the used is cooding or pengkodingan to press release the by using two pengkoding ministrant besides researcher of itself. Data which have been obtained is then analysed determinable so that that unit analyse at press release can improve the image UGM in society eye.
