Abstract

Everyone must disclose themselves, but not everyone can do it directly. Some people even need a medium for self-disclosure. Finstagram is one of them. Most of today's teenagers aged 18-24 years, who are also the majority of Instagram users, use Instagram as a place to show their authenticity through various forms or patterns of self-disclosure that they do. There is no exception for santri, who apparently have the same need for self-disclosure to maintain their mental health and sanity in the midst of polemics from outside society. So this raises questions from several parties regarding why Muslim students also disclose themselves on FInstagram social media and what forms/patterns of self-disclosure do they carry out on FInstagram social media? So in obtaining answers to these questions, this research uses descriptive qualitative methods with case study research; where research techniques produce descriptive data in the form of a series of words that explain a phenomenon in depth. Not prioritizing the size of the population, but emphasizing the issue of (the quality of) the data held. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. And with tools from the self-disclosure theory expressed by Sydney Marshall Jourad which is equipped with the Johari Window concept. So it can be concluded that the results of this research reinforce the argument that anyone can reveal the 'real' side of themselves; whether he is a student or not, and whether in the real world or the virtual world. Also, these findings reinforce the argument that the benefits (self-disclosure) that can be felt are numerous and are good for the mental health of the perpetrators and their (finstagram) users. And the answer was obtained that the form/pattern of self- disclosure of Yogyakarta Muslim students who use Finstagram is relevant to the Johari Window concept in Sydney's Self-Disclosure theory of the personality that tends to be shown on their Finstagram account.
