Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the problem solving abilities of SMA Negeri 1 Jetis students in use the internet as a problem solving tools . The research method of this research is quantitative, while the variable is a single variable, namely the problem solving abilities of students of SMA Negeri 1 Jetis. Population of this research taken was all students of SMA Negeri 1 Jetis grade 10 to grade 12 with a total of 858 students divided into MIPA and Social Studies classes. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling with a sample of 89.56 which was then rounded up to 90 respondents. The data collection from this research was used as a questionnaire as the main data collection, and observation and documentation as a complementary for research data. Data measurement was carried out using a Likert scale with 4 alternative answers. The data analysis used is mean and grand mean which are based on 4 problem solving sub-variables, which consist of (1) solving technical problems, (2) identifying needs and responses to technology, (3) creative use of digital technology. and (4) identification of digital competency gaps. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out, the grand mean results for the technical problem solving sub-variable are 3,35 with a very high category, the need identification and response to technology sub-variable are 2,70 with a high category, for creative sub-variables in the use of digital technology of 3,22 in the high category and identification of digital competency gaps of 3,45 in the very high category. From the grand mean of the four variables, a total grand mean of 12,72 was obtained with a mean of 3,18 in the high category. So based on these results it can be concluded that the students of SMA Negeri 1 Jetis have good problem solving skills in utilizing the internet
