Abstract

This study examines the impact of the "Indonesia Berqurban" Program initiated by Masjid Nurul Ashri in Kampung Oeue, South Central Timor, a 3T (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost) region characterized by a minority Muslim community context. This research aims to analyze how Islamic philanthropic intervention transforms from mere charitable food distribution into an instrument for strengthening social capital. Using a qualitative method with a case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results indicate that the qurban program serves as a catalyst for social capital production through three main mechanisms. First, the strengthening of Bonding Social Capital, which restores the collective efficacy of the minority Muslim community that previously experienced internal marginalization. Second, the formation of Bridging Social Capital through the participatory involvement of non-Muslim residents in the qurban procession, which effectively breaks down prejudice barriers and builds interfaith solidarity. Third, the activation of Linking Social Capital, which opens geographical isolation and connects the community with external resources. This study concludes that the qurban ritual, when managed with a community-based approach, can be a comprehensive solution to respond to double jeopardy (poverty and social isolation) in disadvantaged areas.
