Abstract

This study aims to explain the faktors, forms, functions code mixing in the Arabic conversation of the Kuliyah Uṣũluddĩn Sanah Ṡãlisah Al-Azhar University, Egypt. This research is library research. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The data was obtained from the main source, namely the telegram group with the name “Kuliyah Uṣũluddĩn Sanah Ṡãlisah” with 1.246 participants. Data collected from November 2021- November 2022. The data in this study are words, phrases or clauses in group conversations. The data obtained were analyzed using sociolinguistik theories, especially code mixing. From the research conducted by researchers in group conversations, it can be concluded that the motivation that causes code-mixing in Arabic Conversations in the Telegram Group of Kuliyah Uṣũluddĩn Sanah Ṡãlisah, Al-Azhar University, Egypt, is due to non-linguistik faktors. Students do a lot of code mixing in their conversations with 32 conversations with mixed code insertion, 4 conversations with alternation forms and 12 conversations with congruent lexicalization forms. The function of code mixing in a group is to explain something, to relax, respect the speech partner, to increase prestige, to adjust the topic, and to show feeling.
